Coco Caprylic/Caprate
Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, often abbreviated as CCC, is a lightweight emollient made by combining fatty alcohols with caprylic and capric fatty acids. These components are commonly obtained from plant sources, although the exact feedstock and processing method depend on the supplier. The finished ingredient is valued in cosmetic formulation for its fluid texture, smooth glide, and light after-feel.
Coco-Caprylate/Caprate is sometimes used to create a sensory effect similar to certain silicones. It can help a formula spread more easily, reduce the perception of greasiness, and leave the skin feeling soft rather than heavily coated. It does not provide the same performance as every silicone, but it can contribute a polished, silky character to oils, balms, and other anhydrous products.
We use Coco-Caprylate/Caprate in selected M. Carya formulas to refine texture and improve the way richer ingredients move across the skin. When blended with cold-pressed pecan oil, plant butters, or other emollients, it can help the finished product feel lighter, smoother, and easier to distribute.
