Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, often abbreviated as CCT, is a lightweight emollient made by combining glycerin with caprylic and capric fatty acids. These fatty acids are commonly derived from plant sources such as coconut or palm kernel oil, although the exact source depends on the supplier. The finished ingredient is highly refined, stable, nearly colorless, and valued for its smooth, silky texture.

In skincare, CCT helps soften the skin and improve the way a product spreads. It has a lighter feel than many traditional plant oils and can help reduce the greasy or heavy sensation that richer ingredients may leave behind. Rather than contributing a strong aroma, color, or distinctive botanical character, CCT is often used for its reliable performance and elegant sensory qualities.

We use Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride in selected M. Carya formulas to improve glide, spreadability, and overall balance. It works especially well alongside richer ingredients such as cold-pressed pecan oil, tallow, cocoa butter, shea butter, and kokum butter. By adjusting the texture and movement of a formula, it can help solid balms, cleansing oils, and other anhydrous products feel smoother and easier to apply.

CCT also helps support a more refined finish on the skin. We value it as a practical formulation ingredient that allows nourishing oils and butters to remain central to the product while helping the finished formula feel comfortable, polished, and pleasant to use.
